Street Smart High is an essential free event focused on promoting road safety among the next generation of road users. It plays a pivotal role in educating and inspiring them to make responsible choices while driving and using our roads, ultimately aiming to reduce incidents of road trauma. Through engaging presentations, and real-life demonstrations, the event helps participants understand the importance of safe driving practices.

Young drivers often face unique challenges and pressures, making it crucial to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the roads confidently and responsibly. By emphasising the impact of distractions, the dangers of drink and drug driving, and the importance of seatbelt use, Street Smart High empowers attendees to take charge of their safety and that of their passengers.

Ultimately, the goal of Street Smart High is not only to inform young drivers but also to inspire them to be advocates for safe driving practices in their communities. By instilling a sense of responsibility and awareness, this initiative aims to contribute significantly to reducing road trauma and creating safer roads for everyone.

Your school's participation and support are greatly appreciated.

Teacher information

Supervision of students

A reminder that student supervision remains the responsibility of school staff. Please encourage teachers from your school to sit amongst the students, so there is adequate supervision and remind students to respect that they will be hearing a number of people tell very personal stories and that mobile phones should not be used during the event.

Teacher staffroom

Meeting room 3 has been set aside as a teacher staffroom that will be open during the lunchbreak. This area will allow teachers to have a break during the day and get a coffee or tea. Student supervision remains a school responsibility and therefore, schools may like to work out their own system where teachers can roster a 10-minute break to visit the staffroom.
