National Road Safety Week - get involved

National Road Safety Week
15th-22nd May 2022

The loss of a loved one is devastating to family, friends and the whole community.
Our message is simple road safety is everyone's business.
Towards Zero is our goal, no more road trauma.

National Road Safety Week is an annual initiative from the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group, partnering road safety organisations and Government. National Road Safety Week will be held 15-22 May. The week highlights the impact of road trauma and ways to reduce it.

Peter Frazer from Sarah Group met with CEO Anthony Hill and the AANT team while in Darwin, to acknowledge AANT for its hard work and road safety initiatives.  Mr Peter Frazer said, "Everyone's got a right to get home safe every day without exception".

On Tuesday 17th May, AANT will host over 1000 senior school students from across the Territory at the annual Street Smart High day.   Street Smart High is the largest youth road safety event in the Territory which demonstrates the realities of road trauma and gives novice drivers the knowledge they need to be safe drivers.  CEO Mr Anthony Hill said "our program Street Smart High aims to impower young people to make safe choices as road users. Their future is bright, we need our children home safely.  No longer can we accept that people die on our roads.  Crashes are avoidable. They don’t need to happen.”  said Mr Hill. "

The leadership of AANT facilitating Street Smart High will have a really positive effect on changing behaviours and ensuring everyone follows the motto "Drive So Others Survive".  We thank the AANT for its support of Road Safety Week." said Peter.
